Structure of UQMind

UQMind is a branch of the University of Queensland Medical Society (UQMS).

 

The UQMind Chair sits on the UQMS management committee. The two Vice-Chairs (Phase 1 and 2) work alongside the Chair to facilitate events, campaigns and initiatives for the coming year.

 

Under each Vice-Chair are the portfolio-specific convenors who oversee and manage particular events.

Abiola Dada

UQMind Chair

The UQMind Chair sits on the UQ Medical Society (UQMS)  management committee, as the advocate and representative for medical student mental health and wellbeing. The Chair also liases with external mental health organizations, such as DHASQ.

Sunera Samaratunga

Phase 1 Vice Chair

The Phase 1 Vice-Chair coordinates and assists with all activities aimed at Phase 1 students – including coffee mornings, Blue Week, symposium, and social media campaigns.

The Phase 2 Vice-Chair coordinates and assists with all activities aimed at Phase 2 students – including coffee mornings, Death Cafes, Book Club and Conversation Corner.

Our engagement team are in charge of our social media and outreach projects – including Facebook, Instagram and our website, helping to create a stronger online UQMind presence. They also design posters and flyers to help advertise our events.

Our Events team is focused on implementing and delivering events for students who are based at rural clinical schools! This includes coffee mornings, Death Cafes, Book Club, and the MiS buddy program.
